The University of Maryland has installed 20 solar panels on the roof of the North Campus Diner. The solar panels will be used to generate 1/3 of the Diner's hot water which reinforces the University's stance to reduce the campus' carbon footprint to zero by 2050. The University expects to save $1.7 million annually in energy costs and 2.5 million gallons of water.
